Stonework with star of David

The apple of His eye

Israel are God’s chosen people- the “apple of His eye”. (Deuteronomy 32: 10)

Thousands of years ago God made promises to them. David wrote of this in a beautiful song of praise recorded in 1 Chronicles 16:8-36 .You might like to read it for yourself. It contains the following phrases:

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,   you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob….  He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations

When he was imprisoned, the apostle Paul said, It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain." (Acts 28:20)

What does this mean for us?

We too can become God’s chosen ones, part of His family. We too can have the hope of Israel. The hope of: a loving saviour; of resurrection back to life; a permanent home in a better world.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.  (Galatians 3:26-28)

Choose Christ. Be baptised. Live a life of faith and hope.
